Important: Noise gating reduces quiet background noise between speech. It does not perform advanced AI or spectral denoising, and it cannot reliably remove continuous noise underneath a voice. Use a moderate gate setting to avoid cutting words.

Frequently asked questions

Is this audio enhancer free?

Yes. Audio decoding, filtering, compression and WAV encoding are performed in your browser. No paid API is required.

Does it remove all background noise?

No. This tool uses filtering and a noise gate. These methods can reduce rumble, hiss at the frequency extremes and noise during pauses. They cannot reliably separate speech from noise that overlaps the voice. Dedicated spectral denoising may be needed for difficult recordings.

Which output format is supported?

The enhanced recording is exported as PCM WAV, a widely compatible audio format. WAV files are larger than MP3 files.

Are my recordings uploaded?

The audio-processing code does not upload your selected recording to a Ghostools server. Processing uses your browser's audio capabilities. Your browser may still make ordinary website and resource requests.
